Are you a registered pharmacy technician looking for a new challenge and a chance to expand your knowledge and experience? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic, forward thinking team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Ideally we are looking for a band 5 pharmacy technician but we would also consider a band 4 looking for an opportunity to develop in to a band 5. We are open to flexible working, secondment opportunities or part time hours as required. Any suitable band 4 applicants will be recruited into a developmental band 4 Pharmacy technician post whereby you will be given support and training in order to complete set competencies in order to become a band 5 Pharmacy technician. The expected timeframe to undertake and complete relevant competencies is between 6months to a year.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Your Responsibilities What you'll do

We will provide training towards the Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) course, so that the final check of prescriptions can be undertaken.

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria
  • Registered pharmacy technician in UK by GPhC or working towards qualifications suitable for registration as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC within the next six months.
  • Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A to C or equivalent or IELTS test score 7 as required by GPhC if overseas candidate
  • Desirable criteria
  • Additional pharmacy qualifications e.g. Completed APTUK Foundation Framework Management training Practice supervisor or TAQA Medicines Management qualification PIPC ACPT
  • Experience Essential criteria
  • Maintaining continuous professional development requirements or training portfolio
  • Accurate dispensing of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy or aseptics)
  • Application form and interview questions
  • Dealing with customers and / or patients
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using JAC or similar pharmacy based computer systems
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Stock control / ordering experience
  • Providing a ward-based medicines management service
  • Aseptic pharmacy experience
