  • A position is now open for the attribution of 1 Research Grant (BI) for the “ADM.IN .: Advanced Decision Making in productive systems through Intelligent Networks”, project - no. 055087, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (COMPETE 2020).

    Work Plan and Objectives to Reach:

    a) Identify and describe data sources focused on data driven development of analytical and predictive modules to support decision-making;

    b) Identify and describe functional and non-functional requirements for analytical and predictive modules;

    c) Develop and optimize Sonae Arauco's data lake, ETL processes and data warehouses that will provide data to the predictive and analytical modules for decision-making support.

    Scholarship Duration: this scholarship will last for 12 months, from November 2021 to the end of the project.

    Benefits

    Amount of the Monthly maintenance subvention: The amount of the scholarship will be €835.98, according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by the Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science, research and technology (FCT) – online available at https:// www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.

    Eligibility criteria

    Applicable Legislation: The grant award is based on the Scientific Research Scholarship Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004 of 18th August and the Research Grant Regulation in force of the Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science, which is the one adopted by the Centre of Computer and Graphics.

    Selection process

    Selection methods: The evaluation will take into account the candidate's merit, considering academic course, curricular profile and experience in scientific research, namely in the scientific fields of specialization related with the requirements defined in this fellowship's position offer.

    Candidate selection will be divided into two stages. While a former stage involving curricular evaluation (60% of the total value) will aim a preliminary screening, a latter one will consist of an interview (40% of the total value), with the goal of producing an ordered list of candidates, in which the selected person to contract occupies the first position, according to the selection criteria previously specified. The jury reserves the right to cancel the call if none of the candidates meets the specified qualifications.

    Skills/Qualifications

    Admittance requirements:

    a) Data Warehouses in Big Data contexts, through the modeling and implementation of analytical systems.

    b) Knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem or Microsoft Azure ecosystem;

    c) Data storage and analysis in Big Data contexts, using NoSQL Databases, such as HBase or Cassandra, and data processing tools, such as Spark and query engines such as Presto;

  • candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Management of Information Systems or related areas;
  • candidates must be attending an academic course in one of the areas above mentioned;
  • experience in Big Data Warehouse, Data Lake;
  • other competencies of added value include experience in Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Azure Data Lakes, Apache Nifi, Apache Kafka ;
  • developed skills in Spark, Python, NoSql;
  • dynamic spirit, pro-activity and a high sense of responsibility are desirable soft-skills;
  • to be able of fluently writing and speaking in English is an important competency.
