Position Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The TEACCH Autism Program began in 1972 as a system of university-based regional centers to serve children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. As part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, TEACCH has active clinical, teaching, and research programs. TEACCH operates 7 community regional clinics across the state, an Employment Services program and a vocational/residential facility for adults with ASD.
Position Summary
The TEACCH Autism Program at the University of North Carolina has 2 openings for an Autism Specialist at our TEACCH Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The Autism Specialist will hold a position as Clinical Instructor (fixed-term faculty), in the Department of Psychiatry, UNC School of Medicine.
Responsibilities for these positions include developing and implementing diagnostic, intervention, and/or consultation programs for individuals with ASD. Successful candidates may have an age range specialization (e.g. toddlers) or have broader experience across the lifespan. The position may also include providing professional development training and consultation programs locally, nationally and internationally depending on the interests of the selected candidate.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires completion of a master's degree in social work, counseling, or related discipline.
NOTE: Only candidates licensed or license eligible as a LCSW, LPC, LMFT or LPA in the state of North Carolina will be considered for these positions. Candidates must be licensed and credentialed within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous clinical training and experience in assessment and treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders preferred. Experience treating mental health comorbidities in ASD is highly desirable. Individuals with BCBA certification in addition to licensure as described above is highly desirable.
