Audit Committee Member (Co-opted) Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is seeking a Co-opted Member of its Audit Committee. It is intended that the appointee will serve an initial four year term to the 31st July 2028. The Audit Committee normally meets four times each financial year, on Fridays at the Brayford Campus, with a member development session normally scheduled in January. Co-opted members do not serve as independent governors but do have access to board papers on a confidential basis.

The Audit Committee provides assurance to the Board of Governors in relation to its responsibilities for appropriate financial management and the safeguarding of University and public funds; the effectiveness of internal control, governance and conduct of the University's operations; the management of institutional risk; and matters of economy, efficiency and effectiveness (value for money).

Candidates will have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and convey an understanding of the principles of good systems of control and governance as well as experience in some or all of: accounting; audit; business planning; corporate governance; cyber information management and technology; equality and diversity; financial management; health and safety; risk management.

We want candidates who demonstrate a real interest in and enthusiasm for the development of Lincoln as a leading 21st century University, and a commitment to its staff and students and its institutional reputation. Candidates from a variety of different fields of expertise who possess a range of relevant skills are encouraged to apply. Prior experience of a board role is not a prerequisite where candidates can demonstrate equivalent experience e.g. chairing steering committees, leading material programmes of work at a large organisation etc.
