GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Manager of AV Services or designee, the
Audio-Visual Engineer will perform a variety of duties including scheduling,
setup and operations of AV equipment. Assisting AV technicians with
troubleshooting of audiovisual, sound reinforcement, cabling systems and VIP
event support. Assisting the AV Manager in design, selection, and
implementation of AV equipment. The work requires a high level of
independent/entrepreneurial thinking, action, strong organizational skills,
and customer support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the successful and profitable design, integration, and
support of multiple mission-critical and high profile integrated
audiovisual, videoconferencing and broadcast projects.
Configure, install, and maintain classroom multi-media presentation
systems, and participate in the design, purchase, construction, and
operation of video conferencing systems that include codecs, cameras,
computers, and display systems.
Test, review and assess types of equipment required to facilitate
University projects and events and recommend equipment changes and
purchases.
Thorough understanding of audiovisual testing methodologies and quality
assurance
Ability to read technical drawings.
Escalation point for the maintenance and troubleshooting of A/V equipment.
Provide consultation and recommendations to customers in preparation of
technology upgrades and upcoming events.
Assess, configure, and implement technology needs.
Mentoring and assists existing and future technical staff members is
required.
Acknowledge and resolve user service requests utilizing the Service Now
management system.
Provide resolution to a diverse range of complex problems.
Preparation and presentation of troubleshooting documentation and
instructions
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Information Science, or equivalent experience
3 years audiovisual technology experience
Demonstrated knowledge/experience on current and emerging audio and video
technologies.
Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project.
Knowledge and experience in higher education/trading floor/video
conference room setup
Strong liaison and negotiation skills with client, AV vendors and
contractors
Able to work under pressure and fast-paced environment, willing to work
extended hours.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to travel to off-site locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Software and Hardware for Crestron, ClearOne, Biamp, Extron,
and other related manufacturers.
CTS, CTS-I and/or CTS-D Certification
Crestron Digital Media Certification – DMC-E
