The Athletic Training Program in the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences at Central Michigan University is recruiting for a full-time, nine- month, fixed term (non-tenure track) faculty member beginning August 21, 2023, or an alternate negotiated start date. The position is a 1 (one) year appointment, renewable upon positive performance review and continued need by the University. The successful candidate should possess didactic capabilities and clinical experience in educating Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) students and assist with continued growth of a well-established CAATE-accredited athletic training program.

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Teach courses in the 3+2 BSAT/MSAT program. Potential to teach summer courses.
  • Assist with updating the athletic training policy and procedures manual.
  • Participate with student recruitment and retention.
  • Assist with on-going program development and maintenance of CAATE accreditation.
  • Provide clinical care and serve as a preceptor for students in the Injury Care Center (ICC).
  • Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related discipline.
  • Evidence of clinical instruction and supervision of students in an Athletic Training setting.
  • At lease 3 years of experience as a BOC Athletic Trainer.
  • Current BOC certification in good standing.
  • Current or eligible for Athletic Training licensure in Michigan.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Experience with technology (e.g., Learning Management Systems, E-value) and electronic medical record software (e.g., Epic).
  • American Red Cross Instructor certified for professional rescuers.

    The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Department of Physical Therapy, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). It offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in athletic training, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, environmental health and safety, health administration, physical activity specialist, physical education, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, school and public health education, speech-language pathology, and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff.
