Goshen College seeks a Temporary Athletic Trainer to work within the athletic department providing care for the student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for administering a sports medicine program and working to prevent athletic injuries by evaluating student wellness.
When injuries occur, the Athletic Trainer serves as the first responder by recognizing and evaluating the injuries, and subsequently developing treatment and rehabilitation programs, incorporating the appropriate therapeutic modalities and use of rehabilitation and exercise equipment. The Athletic Trainer also coordinates and liaisons with physicians, athletes, coaching staff, parents, and other allied health professionals on the status of and treatment for injuries. The Athletic Trainer also counsels athletes, and staff regarding proper athletic training and injury rehabilitation.
This is a temporary 3 month position beginning March 1, 2023.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
Monitor training sessions and assist with pre- and post-practice preparation, therapy, and emergency care.
Design, implement, and/or carry out injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
Collaborate and communicate closely with the strength & conditioning coach and other medical providers (LMT's, ATC's, DC's, & MD's).
Document daily injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a Board Certification approved program.
National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
No record of founded malpractice claims, professional boundary violation or State Board sanctions.
Proficient with manual therapy and rehabilitation techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other medical personnel in a high stress environment.
Must be able to successfully pass a background screening (prior to hire date).
