Position Title Athletic Compliance Coordinator

Position Summary

The Athletic Compliance Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administrative support functions relating to student-athlete eligibility, NCAA rules, application recruitment activities, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and University regulations. The Athletic Compliance Coordinator reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties

  • Assists with developing and implementing rules education to coaches, student-athletes, parents, and University staff to ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University regulations.
  • Assists in tracking NCAA initial eligibility and admissions status for all incoming student-athletes.
  • Assists with distributing and monitoring national Letters of Intent (NLIs) and Athletic Aid Agreements.
  • Assists with institutional monitoring of transfer eligibility.
  • Assists with providing rule interpretations.
  • Reviews and approves official /unofficial visits for prospective student- athletes.
  • Reviews and tracks coach logs from recruiting contacts, evaluations, and telephone calls.
  • Maintains all compliance software, including but not limited to: Compliance Assistant and ARMS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the NCAA Division I rules and regulations, with a demonstrated understanding of and adherence to conference and NCAA Division I rules.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and staff members;
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and interpret bylaws and policies.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree.

    Required Work Experience

    One (1) year experience in an NCAA Division I athletic compliance setting at an institutional, conference, or national associate office.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in an NCAA Division I Athletic compliance setting at an institutional, conference, or national associate level.

    Work Hours

    8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as necessary to meet departmental goals.
