Position Title Athletic Assistant (Temporary/Part-Time)

$9.05 hourly up to 29 hours per week.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY PART-TIME POOL POSITION. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed when openings become available. Applications remain active for one year from the date received. Hiring departments will review applications only when positions become available.

    Responsibilities

    DESCRIPTION: Serves the Raider Wellness Center by checking-in and verifying eligibility of participants, assisting at athletic and recreational events, and officiating at intramural events.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Checks-in faculty, staff, and students to use the Raider Wellness Center. 2. Inspects sporting equipment for wear and safety to include cleaning and maintaining of all fitness equipment. 3. Verifies participant eligibility through swipe card enrollment IDs to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations. 4. Officiates at recreational events, games, or competitions, to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed including keeping track of event times and scores. 5. Sets-up, explains rules and regulations, and assists in running recreational events. 6. Assists at athletic events including but not limited to taking tickets, selling snacks, and assisting with game set up. 7. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate clear directions to participants. 2. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff. 3. Knowledge of sports in recreational, high school, or college level. 3. Ability to move about and bend to demonstrate skills. 4. Ability to lift moderate to heavy equipment of at least 25 pounds. 5. Demonstrated skills as a collaborative member in a team environment. 6. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor. 7. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: 1. Works inside and outside environment under various weather conditions.     Conditions of Employment

    Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security- sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children. The College will conduct various types of background checks which may include, but are not limited to: criminal background, credit check, driver's license check, previous employment and references.
