The Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies is seeking to hire a full- time, non-tenure track assistant professor of practice in the Human Development and Family Science and the Marriage and Family Therapy programs. The University of Nebraska's Marriage and Family Therapy master's program provides general training in marriage and family therapy, as well as training in collaborative healthcare, rural mental health, tele-mental health, and trauma-informed modalities.

The successful candidate will bring expertise that will contribute to the national and international reputation and exposure of the program, department, and the university.

The successful candidate will be required to teach up to eight courses each year for the Human Development and Family Science and/or Marriage and Family Therapy programs and act as the Marriage and Family Clinic Coordinator. The clinic coordinator duties will include weekly clinical supervision for Marriage and Family Therapy students, maintaining relationships with practicum sites, managing the day-to-day operations of the Couple and Family Clinic, engaging in grant writing and program evaluation, and other duties as designated by the department. These duties will require being on campus and will also include some evening hours.

We seek an individual who has an innate interest in teaching and clinical training who can motivate students to learn and grow. The successful candidate for this position will have a developed understanding of attachment-based therapy models, specialized training in the treatment of trauma, and knowledge of tele-mental health practices.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in a human sciences discipline (e.g. marriage and family therapy, family social science, psychology, etc.).
  • Licensed in the State of Nebraska as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Provider (LIMHP) and Marriage and Family Therapist or demonstrated eligibility for these licensure designations.
  • AAMFT Clinical Membership.
  • AAMFT Approved supervisor or close to receiving AAMFT approved supervisor status.
  • Teaching experience at a university level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training in trauma and attachment-informed modalities (EMDR, NET, ABFT, TF-CBT, EFT, etc.) as well as experience working with under served minoritized populations.
  • Clinical management experience including managing a budget, managing electronic medical record system, etc.
  • Experience in grant writing and project management.
  • Experience developing working relationships with community and organization leaders.
  • Experience working with COAMFTE accreditation.
  • Experience teaching in person and via online platforms.
