Doctoral or terminal degree required. Seven years of experience in related field with successful administrative experience. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Assists the Provost and Vice Provost in furthering the goals within the Division of Academic Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities

Provides direction and support for initiatives specific to faculty onboarding, engagement, professional development, wellbeing, evaluation, and recognition, as well as tenure and promotion. Collaborates with the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success and other campus partners to assist faculty with meeting changing student needs, addressing learning loss, and maintaining academic integrity. Provides direction and support in collaboration with PACE and other campus partners to offer professional development opportunities for faculty, including pedagogical course redesign. Informs faculty and promotes buy-in of strategic academic supports. Represents Sam Houston State University in local, state, and national organizations. Represents Academic Affairs on various other projects, committees, and initiatives. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Work involves executive skills requiring the ability to develop, interpret, and apply policy, procedures, and direction to a variety of situations and projects. High level of independent judgment, resourcefulness, creativeness, attention to detail, and initiative is required. Ability to direct and implement academic initiatives as suggested by the Provost and Vice Provost. Ability to exercise discretion and utilize strong reasoning, problem solving, and communication skills, as well as work collaboratively and effectively with direct reports and campus partners.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
