Description
The Associate Vice President for Athletics is responsible for the
administration of the athletic programs that supports the college mission and
long-term goals of success in athletics and academics for student athletes.
Works collaboratively with college administration, students, faculty, and
staff to oversee the athletic program in compliance with college and National
Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) regulations, including
recruitment and retention efforts of student athletes. This position has a
strategic responsibility to work directly with the VP for Enrollment
Management in enhancing the sports programs through academic excellence,
strong competition, and the development of our students and coaches as it
relates to our strong mission and core values that have been the foundation of
our college since the establishment of SMWC.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provides direction and leadership to ensure that the athletics program
promotes the goals and values of the College and supports the educational
objectives of all student athletes.
Develops policies, procedures, and long-range goals for the Department of
Athletics consistent with the College mission.
The ability to build strong and lasting relationships within the college
and community.
The ability to strategize efforts and carryout fundraising opportunities
for athletics.
Ensures that the intercollegiate programs are in strict compliance with
college policies and those set forth by the NAIA.
Responsible for the coordination of schedules and contracts of all
athletic events including transportation, officiating, and medical
services in consultation with the coaches.
Analyze revenues and expenses related to intercollegiate athletics.
Supervise expenditure approvals to achieve balanced budgets annually;
monitor budget status throughout the year.
Determines and oversees maintenance concerns for all athletic facilities.
Promotes fitness, wellness, and intramural activities.
Ensures that recruiting efforts are implemented according to Admission and
Financial Aid Office procedures.
Promotes and supports the professional development of the athletic staff.
Responsible for college knowledge and implementation of NAIA, MSFL, IHSA
and Title IX rules.
Engage with all student athletes to exhibit a diversified athletic
community that coexists with the entire campus community.
Provide input and collaborate on the continuation of facility improvements
and additions to the college.

Will supervise all athletic staff
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred in a
closely related field.
Five or more years' experience in athletic administration or related field
preferably at the collegiate level.
Working knowledge of the NAIA, MSFL and IHSA rules and regulations is
required.
Recruiting experience for multiple 4-year collegiate sports.
Demonstrated abilities to work effectively in a small college setting and
ability to balance student-athlete development and leadership development
within entire athletic department.
Experience with Title IX policies and guidelines with responsibility for
promoting the colleges compliance to these guidelines and policies.
Knowledge and effective use of Microsoft Office programs.
Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication.
Ability to create, organize, implement, and assess programs and activities
to enhance the athletic program.
