Wilfrid Laurier University is seeking a strategic, innovative, collaborative and dynamic administrator to lead the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral studies as the Faculty embarks on a journey of continued growth and transformation as a burgeoning comprehensive university with a strong reputation for high calibre research and scholarship.

The Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies serves as a catalyst to promote a stimulating and effective learning environment for over 2,300 graduate students across eight faculties, the School of International Policy and Governance, and the Martin Luther University College. Laurier offers 35 masters and 13 doctoral degrees which are available through in-person, online and through hybrid delivery models. In addition, Martin Luther University College (a federated college of Laurier) currently offers four masters, a graduate diploma and one doctoral degree. Although many of these programs are long-standing, Laurier continues to bring an innovative and creative lens to invigorating graduate program offerings.

The Associate Vice-President & Dean of the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies will foster an intellectual and supportive environment where innovation, integrity, and excellence in the pursuit of new knowledge can be achieved. As the chief academic and administrative officer of the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS), the AVP & Dean is responsible for the overall management, governance, quality, planning, strategic development, and long-term vision of Laurier's graduate programs. Supported by the Provost & Vice-President: Academic and line Deans, the AVP & Dean will champion, both internally and externally, Laurier's graduate student research and scholarship and the academic quality and diversity of graduate programs, while also developing new initiatives to enhance graduate offerings and the experience of graduate students. Additionally, the AVP & Dean will work closely with the VP Research and the Office of Research Services to intensify research and scholarship at the University. They will also play a key role is championing the University's overall commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization through supporting diverse student groups, removing barriers and creating access to education for equity deserving students, and building and promoting an inclusive culture and a healthy environment for people from all backgrounds in which to work and study.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you possess a doctoral degree, relevant leadership experience and financial acumen, and are appointable to the level of full professor at Laurier. You have an excellent record of academic, research, and scholarly contribution and achievement, as well as a strong understanding of the research and scholarly landscape in the post- secondary environment. You have successfully supervised post-doctoral researchers, graduate students and undergraduate students. You have experience supporting diverse forms of scholarship, research, external funding applications and creative activity across the range of research disciplines that exist within the University. With regard to graduate programming, you have experience developing and resourcing new programs at the graduate level and are skilled at advocating on behalf of a unit and its stakeholders to secure new opportunities for growth.

You are able to adapt to and manage change effectively and in collaboration with other leaders as necessary.
