Faculty Track Position Title Associate Provost for Student Success Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description

Provide overall leadership for developing and implementing a renewed vision for a unified, supportive, and meaningful student experience. Collaborate with appropriate individuals and groups to lead efforts across institutional boundaries to provide integrated, high quality academic, cultural, social, psychological and overall support services for students, beginning with their progress from entering students through graduation and into their lives as new alumni.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with colleagues across the University, develop and implement initiatives to successfully promote a positive student experience leading to academic success, retention and graduation;Collaborate with faculty, staff and other units (e.g., Academic Units, Admissions, Athletics, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, Professional Advising, College Deans, etc.) to create and sustain a cohesive, vibrant student experience throughout the students' time at UNE;
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead change;
  • Working with other individuals and units, assess current university “student success” activities with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of those services and ease of access for students;
  • Work closely with Institutional Research and other appropriate units in preparing an annual dashboard of key performance indicators as well as tracking and reporting systems for collecting, analyzing and disseminating retention and graduation data and student success reports;
  • Develop presentations and reports to communicate emerging initiatives;
  • Work with appropriate individuals and groups to help coordinate the continued implementation of current initiatives including, but not limited to, the EAB Predictive Analytics Platform and the Ad Astra space utilization initiative;
  • Work with appropriate individuals and groups to continually refine the new program approval process and the ongoing programmatic review process;
  • Implement strategies and processes to assess outcome measures for programs and services, and to make recommendations for improvement based on assessment;
  • Commit to actively fostering a welcoming culture of inclusion and diversity.
  • Collaborate with others in the development of a full co-curriculum that serves the students; develop learning outcomes for programs; assess effectiveness of co-curricular initiatives.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.
  • Qualifications

    An earned doctoral level degree from a regionally accredited institution; plus 5 to 7 years of substantial and progressively more responsible senior level administrative, management and leadership experience in higher education; demonstrated ability in working with diverse student groups as well as with parents, professional staff, faculty, senior administrative colleagues, other academic units, and external constituencies; a proven track record of supporting process improvement, fiscal accountability, and strategic planning is preferred. A masters degree with substantial academic leadership experience will also qualify.

  • Must have a broad understanding of best practices in promoting and sustaining a culture of academic engagement and student success;
  • Able to show a record of scholarly activity, including publications and participation in appropriate professional organizations
  • Must have experience in addressing challenges and opportunities related to persistence and timely graduation for a diverse student body;
  • Requires excellent program planning, policy development, and general administrative, organizational, personnel, and budget management skills.
  • Must possess technology skills and knowledge to know how to use tools, programs, Internet and social networks to best communicate and develop operations/systems that support goals.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Needs the ability to represent the Office of the Provost to and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and organizations inside and outside of the University, for carrying out the varied program coordinating, policy development, mediating, public relations, and general liaison functions of the position.
  • Requires an understanding and appreciation of the role of effective shared governance in higher education, and the importance of open and effective communication in leading change.
