Associate Professorship of Radiocarbon Science

School of Archaeology, 1 South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3TG Grade 10a (36S) £48,835 - £65,574 per annum

The School of Archaeology in association with Wolfson College is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Radiocarbon Science with effect from 1 January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The School of Archaeology, comprising the Institute of Archaeology and Research Laboratory for Art History and Archaeology, is a major centre for research and teaching in archaeological science, integrated with other branches of the discipline. The post holder will be Director of the renowned Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit (ORAU), a key facility within the School, and will maintain ORAU's position at the cutting edge of radiocarbon research. The successful candidate will become a Non-Tutorial Fellow at Wolfson College, with access to a range of benefits and facilities enhancing academic life, as set out in the job description. The post holder will be based at The School of Archaeology, 1-2 South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3TG.

The minimum point of the salary scale is £48,835 per annum. Associate Professors who are awarded the title of full professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £2,846 p.a.

The main duties of the post are to carry out, disseminate the results of, obtain funding for, and supervise research at a high international standard in radiocarbon science, to manage the ORAU facility, to teach a range of topics in radiocarbon science via lectures, classes and tutorials, and to perform administrative and pastoral functions associated with teaching and research.
