Aston Law School's mission is to be a distinctive law school that combines academic rigour with practical insight, for ‘future ready' LLB and LLM graduates. We do so as The Guardian's University of the Year 2020, with Gold TEF status, and as one of the leading universities in the UK for Entrepreneurship and Social Mobility.

We are an independent law school within the same College as, and with strong links to, the world-renowned Aston Business School. We are committed to deliver a distinctive programme that meets the requirements of twenty-first century employers. Our programmes will therefore teach a combination of ‘traditional' law subjects alongside creative and innovative subjects that provide the academic grounding for skills and attributes of modern lawyers (for example, legal project management). We do so in three broad pathways: the Law of Business, the Business of Law and the Future of Law; and by drawing on our links with other schools in the University, as well as with businesses and the legal profession.

We have plans for our strategic growth that involve recruitment of an Associate Professorial Teaching Fellow to be active in the ongoing development of a distinctive and effective curriculum that leads to an impactful student experience. If you want to join like minded colleagues (including law practitioners with some experience of teaching) in our friendly, supportive and vibrant community of legal scholars to make a difference in the teaching of any of the following subjects, we would like to hear from you:

  • Commercial law
  • Criminal law
  • Contract law
  • Employment law
  • Public law (including Human Rights)
  • Company/Finance law
  • Environment, Society and Governance
  • Law and Technology
  • Cybercrime
  • Private client law
  • A successful candidate will also have an interest in pedagogical scholarship, which we will support. Finally, in addition to being a team player and committed to social mobility, the successful candidates will recognise the importance of excellent student support.

These posts are available to start immediately. Informal enquiries about them should be addressed to Jonathan Fortnam (Dean of Aston Law School) by email j.fortnam@aston.ac.uk.
