Job Summary
The Program Director of Kinesiology is appointed by the President upon the
recommendation of the Academic Dean and the Vice President for Academic
Affairs with approval of the Boards of Trustees for the University of
Louisiana System. The Program Director holds academic rank as a teaching
member in the Kinesiology program and is responsible to the Dean of the
College of Health Sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities
The specific duties of the Program Director includes, but are not limited to:
Managing the undergraduate and graduate Kinesiology programs
Responding to queries
Accreditation and program reports
Program budget and purchasing
Program marketing and communications
Student recruitment and retention
Faculty recruitment and retention
Faculty/staff evaluation and promotion, tenure, and merit recommendations
Program growth and curricular development
Teaching relevant courses
Other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related discipline in
Kinesiology from an accredited institution.
Previous administrative experience with leadership skills that advocate a
positive work environment, the desire and ability to form collaborative,
transparent, and engaging work relationships with faculty.
The Program Director will be responsible for the strategic planning,
fiscal management, and other administrative duties for the Kinesiology
Programs.
Experience with traditional and online curriculum and program development
that will continue moving the Kinesiology program forward.
Possess excellent, communication and interpersonal skills, values and has
the dedication to mentor faculty in research and teaching.
Candidates should have a record of scholarship, acquiring external-
funding, and successful teaching.
Candidates with Exercise Science background should have evidence of
teaching in the following areas (exercise physiology, exercise
prescription, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, nutrition,
biomechanics, motor learning, etc.).
Candidates with a Sport Management background should have evidence of
teaching in the following areas (sport law, sport finance, facility and
event management, sport marketing, sport psychology, etc.).
Possess a commitment to student success at the undergraduate and graduate
level.
