Job Summary

The University of Michigan Department of Pediatrics is seeking an experienced clinician-scholar to serve as the Director of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology. The Director will lead a division that currently includes 10 board-certified pediatric pulmonologists and 4 advanced practice nurses. Four faculty members lead NIH-funded research programs (including 3 RO1-funded investigators). The Division includes a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation accredited CF care center. Faculty members in the Division have additional distinctive clinical expertise in pediatric sleep medicine, asthma, primary ciliary dyskinesia, home ventilator pediatric care, and optimal long-term management of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Members of the faculty also contribute to diverse multidisciplinary clinical programs e.g. with Pediatric Neurology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to optimize care for children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and other pediatric neuromuscular disorders. Faculty members have significant roles in the education of pediatric residents and medical students. There is an established Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship training program.

The Division Director is expected to oversee and expand programs to deliver state-of-the-art pulmonology care and research, and to promote the academic career development of faculty and fellows. Successful candidates will have a strong track record of scholarship and national recognition in their field, and ideally be eligible for appointment as Associate /Full Professor.

Required Qualifications

Requirements include an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree; eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Michigan, and certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology sub-board. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.
