    Salary is $59,749 to $85,312 based on education and related work experience in accordance with Salary Schedule in Article 26 of the UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Responsibilities

    This is a regular full-time, Bargaining-Unit teaching position on track for continuing contract to begin August 2022. The standard contract length is 228 days; however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs. Assigned campus location may vary based on enrollment.

    Job Description: The School of Construction, Design, Engineering and Information Technologies is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader for a full-time faculty position responsible for the division's emerging design technology courses shared by multiple departments. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D design industry specialty software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Naviswork, Bluebeam and other industry-related software. The primary teaching assignments are the software-based courses such as CAD and Revit; however, this position will provide support to programs such as interior design or construction as needed.

    Faculty responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and developing industry-driven curriculum and following state mandated curriculum framework.
  • Collaboration with other faculty within the division on interdisciplinary curriculum development to reflect current industry standards and content.
  • Supporting college policies, procedures and inclusiveness.
  • Participating in department and college activities and serving on committees.
  • Interfacing with community partners to remain current with workforce needs and promoting internship and mentoring opportunities.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with local high schools and university partners.
  • Assists with the recruitment of students.
  • Implements strategies to increase student retention and completion.
  • Participating in grant writing proposals that relate to the industries this position serves.
  • Attending college wide meetings and training as they apply to the division.
  • Professor will attend a minimum of one graduation ceremony.
  • Essential Functions:

  • Plans, organizes, and teaches classes as assigned. Develops detailed outlines and syllabi as required for each class. Project-based instruction will be incorporated into each respective class as appropriate.
  • Makes use of professional growth opportunities, including but not limited to the Seminole State Faculty Institute for Teaching and Learning.
  • Incorporates teaching strategies relevant to academic discipline that foster student learning, success and retention.
  • Engages students and supports student learning success in and beyond the classroom (i.e., help students to develop and maintain a good work ethic).
  • Works effectively, respectfully and productively with people from all cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students, both individually and in small groups.
  • Advises students in matters relating to academic progress.
  • Works with other faculty in support of curricula improvements as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies.
  • Collaborate with Computing and Telecommunications Services (CTS) staff to ensure computer labs are maintained and licenses are current.
  • Complies with college policies and procedures with required deadlines.
  • Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing as required. Assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment (Sanford/Lake Mary, Heathrow or Oviedo campuses). And may require travel between campuses.
  • Participates in committee work as requested.
  • Contributes to collegial and collaborative work environment.
  • Becomes actively involved with the diverse community that the college serves.
  • Works with other college departments to engage community partners that support the College Mission and Vision.
  • Performs all other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Building Construction, Construction Management, or other related technology degree.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in AutoCad and Revit.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Navisworks and other BIM software.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and other design / architectural related software.
  • A minimum of two years of direct industry experience with construction documents.
  • Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) from an accredited institution in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Building Construction, or Construction Management
  • Previous teaching experience at the college level.
  • Previous teaching experience with online learning modality and technology (i.e. distance learning).
  • Experience utilizing emerging technology and innovative pedagogy to deliver exceptional teaching and learning such as Hololens, and laser scanners.
  • Previous leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the learning- centered approach to teaching and project based learning.
  • Experience in writing grant proposals and/or participation in grant activities.
