The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Charles E. Schmidt College
of Science at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL, invites
applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position starting Spring
Semester, 2022. The position is a collaboration between the Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry, the FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute (SNBI),
and the David and Lynn Nicholson Center for Neurodegenerative Disease
The successful candidate will serve as Scientific Director of the FAU Advanced
Cell Imaging Core (ACIC). The department is particularly interested in
candidate research efforts that merge advanced optical approaches with
biochemical and physiological methods for the study of neurodegenerative
disease mechanisms. In addition to establishing a productive research program
and overseeing the ACIC, the successful candidate will engage in undergraduate
and graduate student teaching, the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate
students, and the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in
bioanalytical chemistry. State-of-the art research space and shared resources
will be provided for the successful candidate in the SNBI research facility
located in Jupiter, Florida.
Must possess Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution in biochemistry,
neuroscience or a closely related discipline is preferred.
