The School of Human Services offers two undergraduate degree programs The Bachelor's degree in Human Services Management, and Leadership ( HSML) and a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) prepares students for work in the social service sector. We offer both professional and academic certificates.

Position Summary

Associate/Professor and Chair of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Human Services.

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Associate/Professor and Chair of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Human Services starting in Spring 2022. UNT Dallas offers the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban, comprehensive university. This position is recommended for appointment by the Dean of the School of Human Services and approved by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

A program chair is a head academic and administrative official responsible for the educational, scholarship, personnel, and student affairs of a program. Chairs are tenured with the rank of Associate Professor. The program chair is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the dean, with the approval of the provost.

This position is a tenure-track, nine-month (9) Associate Professor appointment with additional compensated administrative responsibilities over 11 months. With the responsibilities as the program chair, this position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Human Services and is expected to teach at least two (2) undergraduate courses in one of the programs within the School of Human Services while collaboratively leading the programs. The program chair is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the dean, with the approval of the provost.

· The program chair has authority and responsibility for the delivery and program integrity of the undergraduate programs in the School of Human Services in accordance with the school and university strategic plans related to academic program development, faculty recruitment, and evaluation.

· The program chair provides leadership of the operation of the undergraduate programs over 11 months and must be able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

· Provide established evidence of program and curriculum development, policy implementation, student engagement, program review, and evaluation of short and long-term goals.

· Knowledge of FTES and FTEF ratios, schedule development, enrollment management strategies, implementation of accreditation policies and procedures, and contract language.

· The program chair is the head academic and administrative official responsible for the educational, scholarship, personnel, and student affairs of the undergraduate programs.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in human services related disciplines including, but not limited to human services, social work, counseling, sociology, anthropology, public health, and family studies: • Proven teaching excellence in undergraduate instruction. Experience in graduate instruction will be an added advantage. • Documented professional identity as evidenced by the education, teaching, clinical experience, and professional affiliations in one's area of specialization (such as LCSW, LPC, HS-BCP). •Documented professional experience and competency in working with culturally diverse populations. • Demonstrated engagement in community/school-university partnerships. •Evidence of student-oriented instruction and leadership within a collaborative environment. •Proven research record with an established research agenda

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

• Evidence of leadership in program development and growth including demonstrated outreach, recruitment, and service activities. • Evidence of collaborative grant development and sustainability. • Demonstrated experiences in program evaluation, statistics, and data management analytics. • Demonstrated leadership in collaboration across disciplines. • Skilled in problem-solving, mediation, and negotiation • Exceptional interpersonal/people skills • Regional, State, or National recognition in research in a professional area

• Reporting to and collaborating with the Dean regarding class schedule development and building program pathways/course sequencing.

• Working with faculty to facilitate the review and adoption of textbooks.

• Facilitating the development, implementation, and assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs) at each program and school level as appropriate.

• Facilitating programs review and data analysis aligning with SACS assessment requirements.

• Ensuring alignment of programs with accrediting standards for national and/or regional accreditation.

• Assisting the Dean and providing information and data for budget development and management.

• Developing new academic programs and initiate justification to the Dean for additional staff and faculty.

• Providing orientation for new students, part-time and full-time faculty with the help of instructors within programs.

• Working in collaboration with the Dean to develop a plan for regular evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty within the programs.

• Working with the Dean to share information, dealing with academic concerns and developing effective plans to implement policies for faculty and students.

• Encouraging and supporting faculty participation in appropriate scholarly publication, scholarly engagement, and ensuring a high level of teaching quality and faculty participation in professional and community services.
