Associate Pastor
Job Description:The congregation is seeking a pastor who will share in all of the ordinary work of pastoral ministry. Unlike in the PCA, where Associate and Assistant Pastors sometimes report to the Senior Pastor, the OPC only has one role of Pastor where each minister is equally a member of the Session and of Presbytery. While the congregation would expect our Senior Pastor of 14 years to mentor any new pastor, we are seeking a fellow pastor and not someone who will simply assist our Senior Pastor in his work.
Our next Associate Pastor can expect to preach every week at either the evening or morning service, teach in some other capacity once per week, and engage in visitation, evangelism, and eventually in pastoral counseling.
While the final compensation package will be developed by the Ruling Elders in consultation with the candidate, the compensation will be in the following range:
Salary and Housing in the 80s Retirement: 10% of Salary and Housing Insurance: The full cost of life, health, and disability insurance Half of the cost of Social Security taxes Vacation: 4 weeks of paid vacation per year
The church also covers the cost of pastoral expenses for travel and books but these are not considered to be part of the pastor's compensation but an operating expense for the church.
Position Qualifications:Our next Associate Pastor must …
(1) Meet all of the biblical requirements for a Minister of Jesus Christ. (2) Love the LORD, love God's word, and love God's people. (3) Joyfully embrace the Confession and Catechisms of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church as an expression of his own faith; and (4) Possess and MDiv or equivalent – preferably from a confessionally reformed seminary.
We are looking for a man who is already licensed or ordained.

Description of OrganizationMerrimack Valley Presbyterian Church (OPC) is a vibrant and growing congregation in the north of Boston suburbs. As is common in New England, the church is rather spread out geographically with roughly half of the congregation living in New Hampshire and half living in Massachusetts.
The congregation is committed to learning the word of God and to putting it into practice. The application of God's word manifests itself in a congregation that is marked out by love, unity, peace, and mutual service. In many ways, this is an ideal church for someone who is seeking their first call.
