An excellent opportunity to join the teaching team on our Foundation Degree in Psychology for Education Professionals and the BA Psychology for Education programmes.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to join the collaborative and supportive teaching team on the Foundation Degree in Psychology for Education Professionals and the BA Psychology for Education programmes and to teach a group of committed students.

Your main task will be the preparation, teaching, administration, and assessment of the Level 5 Developing Child: A Social Perspective module which explores the impact of the social context on the experience of childhood and adolescence; particularly key developmental milestones, social and cultural processes, life events and rites of passage.

The module is compulsory for students on both programmes and has been running successfully for a number of years; it will offer you the opportunity to bring your knowledge, expertise and teaching experience to enable these committed students to complete their studies successfully.

Classes for The Developing Child: A Social Perspective meet weekly on Wednesdays for 2 hours from 3.00pm to 5.00pm, starting on 27th April 2022 until 6th July 2022 (11 weeks).

We are looking for a committed professional with:

  • A degree in Psychology.
  • A good understanding of developmental/social psychology.
  • Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
  • A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrably effective and engaging communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate.
  • Willing to engage in reflective practice.
  • PLEASE NOTE candidates need to demonstrate competence or significant potential in ALL areas.

    Also desirable are the following:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant area
  • Professional experience in Educational, Developmental or Social Psychology
  • A teaching qualification
  • Remuneration:

    Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £61.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
