    Our world-leading School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences seeks an engaging and dedicated Associate Lecturer/Lecturer with teaching and research expertise in Occupational Therapy to provide leadership within the School.

    The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences includes the professional disciplines of Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Pathology. Undergraduate programs are available in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology with graduate entry programs available in all disciplines. Students gain supervised professional experience as part of their academic program and graduates are ready for immediate entry to their profession on completion of their degree. All disciplines within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences are active in research and are making significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in their professions.     This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Occupational Therapy to develop your expertise and grow your profile in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research, supervision, and citizenship and service in undergraduate and graduate entry Occupational Therapy programs. As a teaching and research academic, you will have an emerging profile in teaching and supervision, and you will aspire to achieve national recognition in your field of research.

    Based at our vibrant St Lucia campus, this position is ideal for those with a passion for, and expertise in, the world-class instruction and advancement of Occupational Therapy.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Teaching and Learning

  • Assist in the development of new programs and course material in Occupational Therapy, by consulting with program advisors and stakeholders, ensuring courses are engaging, relevant and contemporary.

  • Teach across different settings and collaborate on educational practice and innovative curriculum design including online learning and alternative teaching methods.

  • Undertake teaching, including collaboration on course coordination, lecturing, tutoring, consultation and the preparation of teaching and assessment materials and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  • Maintain and improve the quality of courses as measured through evaluation instruments to meet industry and educational standards.

  • Assist in the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

  • Provide high quality service to students, including academic counselling and advice.

  • In addition, at Level B

  • Coordinate courses, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, and undertake assessment and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.

  • Research

  • Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile in Occupational Therapy or a related field.

  • Work with colleagues and postgraduates in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.

  • Publish or present in high quality outlets (often in collaboration with colleagues).

  • Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.

  • Prepare research publications and progress reports and participate in regular meetings to discuss project objectives, methodology and outcomes.

  • In addition, at Level B

  • Develop an independent and/or team research program to achieve national recognition and impact in Occupational Therapy or a related field.

  • Contribute as chief investigator role (often in conjunction with more experienced researchers) in applications for external research funding, which includes actively seeking, obtaining and managing research funding.

  • Maintain an active and effective record of publishing in high quality national research journals, other appropriate refereed publications and conference publications.

  • Citizenship and Service

  • Develop external links by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

  • Contribute to internal service roles and processes, including participation in decision- making and service on relevant committees.

  • Perform a range of administrative functions as required.

  • In addition, at Level B

  • Efficiently manage allocated internal service roles and processes, including participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees.

    About You

    For consideration as an Associate Lecturer (Level A) , our ideal candidate will possess:

  • A qualification in Occupational Therapy and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area.

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in Occupational Therapy theory and practice with a focus on working in paediatric, community, or mental health practice.

  • An emerging profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.

  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.

  • Evidence of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level and collaboration in course coordination.

  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.

  • For consideration as a Lecturer (Level B) , our ideal candidate will possess:

  • A qualification in Occupational Therapy and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

  • Completion of a PhD in the discipline area.

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in Occupational Therapy theory and practice with a focus on working in paediatric, community, or mental health practice.

  • A growing profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.

  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • Experience in course coordination and contribution to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

  • What We Can Offer

    This is a full-time (100%), continuing position at Academic Level A or B.

    The full-time equivalent base salary for Academic Level A will be in the range $72,144 - $96,530 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $84,408 - $112,940 per annum.

    The full-time equivalent base salary for Academic Level B will be in the range $101,533 - $120,570 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,794 - $141,067 per annum.
