About The Role
Falmouth University's ambitious 2030 Strategy, ‘Doing it for Real', is
designed to deliver yet further growth in our student numbers and income
through portfolio diversification, innovation, research and commercial
ventures. It will establish Falmouth as the market leader for creative
industries and entrepreneurship education over the next decade, capitalising
on our considerable assets in innovation-led research and business incubation.
Due to this growth, we are now seeking Associate Lecturers to join our
Fashion Photography course. The successful candidates will build on the
international reputation of Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth
University and play a key role in leading the development of undergraduate
study in the discipline. You will be responsible for assuring the academic
standards of the Module and its delivery through your academic leadership and
effective management of resources. You will contribute to the delivery of the
course through your provision of inspiring and supporting learning
opportunities, providing a stimulating and nurturing environment for both
students and colleagues.The role will enhance professional, academic and
research partnerships to ensure that the course anticipates the changing needs
of the global fashion communication industry, commerce, and society.
Creative and highly motivated, you'll be experienced in the challenges of
enabling diverse student cohorts to explore the discipline of Fashion
Photography, to reach their full potential and to foster new approaches to
Fashion Photography practice and research.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive industry practise, with a
substantial portfolio experience as a Fashion Photographer/Filmmaker, Fashion
Stylist/Creative Director, Fashion Journalist/Curator working for leading
fashion editorial publications and fashion advertising campaigns. Your
knowledge and direct experience in the creative practice for image making
within the context of contemporary fashion photography, styling and production
for fashion film will be evidenced in your working with publishers, fashion
editors/stylists, model agencies, photographer's agents, hair, make-up artists
and scenic designers.
The Associate Lecturer role will be responsible for enabling diverse student
cohorts to explore the discipline of Fashion Photography, to reach their full
potential and to foster new approaches to Fashion Photography practice and
research. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable in
the use of digital media. You will have the ability to lead and to work as
part of a team, sharing your knowledge with colleagues and students alike.
We are looking for candidates who also have the following skills/experience:
An understanding and personal experience of the relationship of fashion
photography education with the fashion communication industry, both
nationally and internationally.
Advanced practical and artistic knowledge and skills in the fashion
photography/styling/creative direction field.
Interest in fashion and its culture and the position requires professional
skills relevant and necessary for the development of the field of fashion
photography in the area of editorial and advertising fashion image making.
Excellent communication skills and be comfortable in the use of digital
Ability to lead and to work as part of a team, sharing your knowledge with
colleagues and students alike.
