Job Title Associate Director of Student Ministry Job Description

The Associate Director of Student Ministry (ADSM) assists the Director of Campus Ministry in guiding student faith formation through long-term strategic planning as well as direct work with students, colleagues, and the Congregation of Holy Cross.

The ADSM requires a proven leader with a passion for sharing the Catholic faith and engaging people of all faiths and levels of commitment in the context of collegiate student ministry. As a team leader and a results- oriented thinker, the ADSM will focus on guiding and empowering the work of their team which includes the assistant directors of retreats and small faith groups, faith & justice initiatives and multicultural outreach. This role will require strong communication skills; as well as awareness of, and responsiveness to, current issues relevant to student life, faith and the Catholic Church. In addition, the ADSM serves as a member of the Leadership Team of Campus Ministry.

Supervise and lead the following areas within Student Ministry: retreats and small faith groups, faith & justice initiatives, and multicultural outreach. Effective supervision will require that the ADSM meets with each direct report weekly, attends select events during nights and weekends and leads or participates in working groups on topics relevant to the student experience. Further, the ADSM will develop workflows for communication, interaction, program evaluation and decision-making with other members of the Leadership Team.

Leverage Campus Ministry's expertise to direct student evangelization and faith formation in collaboration with relevant University partners, such as the Center for Social Concerns, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, the Gender Relations Center and Residential Life.

Foster the intersection of faith expressions, race and cultural experiences through a variety of programming efforts. The ADSM will ensure that students of all faith backgrounds are welcomed into an experience of faith that is both supportive and expansive.

Serve as a member of the Campus Ministry Leadership Team. The ADSM must collaborate with the following associate directors: Pastoral Care, Liturgy and Communications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in theology or related field
  • 5 to 6 years experience actively engaged in ministry with a preference to collegiate ministry
  • Strong Catholic theological background with an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, interfaith ministry
  • Experience with retreats, small group ministry and multicultural outreach
  • Awareness of current issues relevant to student life, faith and the Catholic Church
  • Previous experience with staff supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with G Suite software
