Job Title: Associate Dean of Advising and Pathways
Department: Arts, Learning Resources and Pathways Division
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the Dean of Arts, Learning Resources and Pathways,
the Associate Dean of Guided Pathways leads the planning, implementation, and
assessment of the Guided Pathways framework at EvCC. The Guided Pathways
Associate Dean coordinates advising across the college and supervises the
faculty and staff of the Entry Advising team. In addition, the Associate Dean
works collaboratively with internal college partners to develop and scale
Guided Pathways essential practices and holistic student supports.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate EvCC's Guided Pathway essential practices, implementation
strategies and evaluation of outcomes.
Partner with Dean to advance the evolving program advising model,
including Advising Fellows; program advisor assignments, reassignments,
training, and evaluation; coordination of summer program advising.
Collaborate with instructional division Deans to ensure seamless hand off
and effective management of program advising.
Oversee EvCC's Entry Advising services in collaboration with Entry
Advising faculty leadership. Supervise and evaluate assigned faculty and
staff in accordance with college policies and the negotiated agreements.
Design, implement and manage comprehensive, coordinated training
opportunities to support faculty program advising, incorporating
strategies that promote equity, inclusion, and innovation. Create
opportunities for faculty to network and exchange ideas with colleagues on
issues central to excellence in advising. Lead the implementation of and
training on advising tools.
Supervise, train, and evaluate Pathway Coaches as part of the coordinated
model of student support teams in the Pathways that contribute to student
success, persistence, and completion according to their goals.
Develop, maintain and monitor assigned budgets; securing external grant
funding as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Student Success Technology team to integrate, enhance
and scale the functionality and usage of Starfish, EvCC's student success
platform, into all student support activities.
Oversee the development of college systems for tracking student progress,
designing targeted interventions with the goal of providing a seamless,
holistic support network for students.
In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Research, plan,
facilitate, and coordinate data collection processes to assess
effectiveness of Guided Pathways essential practices.
In collaboration with Director of Strategic Enrollment Management, develop
outreach and recruitment strategies based on EvCC Pathways.
Work with industry, community and educational partners to build cross-
sector Pathways.
Collaborate with EvCC's Center for Transformative Teaching to design
faculty and staff development activities linked to Guided Pathways
essential practices, with a particular focus on advising.
Coordinate preparation of Guided Pathways reports to the Washington State
Board of Technical and Community Colleges (SBCTC).
Participates actively in college governance; serves on Guided Pathways
Standing Committee and Strategic Enrollment Management Committee.
Collaborates with Student Services and participates in Student Services
Leadership meetings.
Serve as EvCC's liaison to SBCTC's Student Success Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree. Could include but is not limited to higher education
administration, student development, instructional design or other
relevant fields.
Three years of administrative responsibility as a director, manager,
department or division lead (or equivalent) in a college unit with some
responsibility for one or more of the following: academic advising,
counseling (academic/career/personal), transfer articulation, student
development and retention, student support services, TRiO, and
admissions/enrollment.
Experience identifying and disrupting systemic structural barriers for
systematically nondominant populations within higher education.
Familiarity with the guided Pathways model, theoretical framework and
research-based outcomes.
Familiarity with assessment strategies related to student success, equity-
minded institutional initiatives and disproportionate impact.
Understanding of professional development strategies related to equity,
diversity, and inclusion.
Cultural humility as evidenced by understanding of and sensitivity to
meeting the needs of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability and ethnic backgrounds of the student.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment and
possess strong team building and conflict resolution skills; Ability to
establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in leading or co-leading Guided Pathways work at a community
college setting.
Experience implementing and scaling a student success technology platform,
such as Starfish
Advising or teaching experience, preferably at the community college
level.
Demonstrated project management and time-management skills including
dealing with multiple and competing deadlines, ability to prioritize, work
under pressure, complete tasks on time and be responsive to requests.
Experience leading student success initiatives that directly reduce
student equity gaps and improve degree or program completion for
minoritized students in higher education.

Work Hours:
Full time, 12 month position. M-F 8am – 5pm. Some evening and weekend hours
for meetings and events. Summer schedule is condensed to 4 10's, typically
with Fridays off.

This position is eligible for State of Washington Public Employee Benefits,
such as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Long Term Disability Insurance,
Retirement plans, and more. Additionally, Everett Community College
Administrative/Exempt employees accrue 16 hours of vacation for every month of
service, during which the employee is in pay status for 10 or more days; 8
hours of sick leave for every month of service, during which the employee is
in pay status for 10 or more days; 11 paid holidays throughout the year, plus
3 paid personal holidays.
