    The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth ( HSC) is one of the nation's distinguished graduate academic health science centers, dedicated to education, research, clinical care and community engagement.

    We are excited to announce the formation of its College of Nursing. The new college will help address the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S. Learn more about the college's launch. The new College of Nursing will join five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.

    Position Summary

    The University of North Texas Health Science Center ( HSC) College of Nursing is seeking applications for the Associate Dean and Chair for Undergraduate Education.

    This position will report to the Dean, College of Nursing and is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the undergraduate nursing program is of the highest quality and prepares students for successful careers in nursing.
  • Supervising the activities of the faculty and professional staff including, but not limited to, recruiting, orienting, training, directing, supervising, and evaluating team members.
  • Contributing to undergraduate curriculum development initiatives, program accreditation, and program development.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the undergraduate nursing program, including student outcomes, faculty performance, and program quality.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required in nursing or related field
  • A valid nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure in Texas
  • Progressive management / leadership experience
  • Must have qualifications commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience in nursing education or a related field
  • Administrative experience at a U.S. accredited college of nursing
  • Experience in developing and implementing new nursing undergraduate programs or initiatives
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards for nursing education
  • Substantial body of published scholarly work with considerable visibility in the nursing research community, and the capacity to exercise leadership at the local, state, and national levels
  • An established record of scholarship in nursing or related fields, including publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at professional conferences, and grant funding
  • A record of having developed and maintained strong working relationships with affiliated hospitals and clinics
  • Experience working in a complex interdisciplinary university or academic health science center, with demonstrated strategic and implementation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in grant writing, fundraising, and income- generating activities with alumni, community volunteers, and advisory councils
  • Commitment to excellence in values-based patient care, facilitation of faculty practice, interdisciplinary patient care, and interprofessional education in a personal and student-focused environment
  • Required License / Registration / Certification

    A valid nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure in Texas
