  • Institute of Chemical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences in Gliwice, Poland invites applicants for a full-time employment as an assistant in the field of multiphase reactors. We are looking for a candidate having a Master degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar disciplines like Technical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Technology, etc.

    The beneficiary will be involved in research activities carried out at the Institute and described on the Institute's website (www. iich.gliwice.pl). The Beneficiary will be mainly involved in the study of gas-liquid contactors (especially bubble columns), including, inter alia, the development of new innovative methods for identifying flow regimes (flow regime mapping) and new approaches for characterization of the mass transfer performance of these important chemical reactors.

    The research will involve about 50 % experimental work and about 50 % data post-processing and development of the above-mentioned new methods/approaches. The bubble column reactors will be operating at ambient pressure with various aqueous solutions of alcohols and salts with different concentrations.

    The successful applicant should have the following skills:

    - good knowledge about multiphase reactors (design, operation, hydrodynamics, mixing and mass transfer);

    - good knowledge about different methods for time series analysis e.g. statistical,

    - experience with data post-processing software (for instance, Excel, Matlab);

    - previous hands-on experience with different experimental techniques

    In the allocation of the scientific work, the skills, experience and predispositions of the beneficiary will be taken into account. In addition, the researcher will participate in research work in Institute in Dresden (Germany) for 2 months. This outstanding opportunity will enable the researcher to gain additional hands-on experience in working with advanced experimental techniques.

    Specific Requirements
  • Master degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Technology, etc.

  • Good knowledge of both Polish and English;

  • Basic knowledge in the field of chemical reactor engineering, hydrodynamics, mixing and mass transfer in chemical reactors, data post- processing software (for time series analysis); hands-on experience with different measurement techniques;

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team;

  • High motivation for a scientific work;

  • Statement, that in case of employment, Institute of Chemical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences is going to be the primary place of employment.
