The University of Nebraska System is seeking an innovative and collaborative technology leader to serve as its assistant vice president (AVP) for NeSIS (Nebraska Student Information System) in the division of Information Technology Services (ITS). Reporting to the University of Nebraska Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, the AVP for NeSIS leads a division of 20 full time employees providing outstanding collaborative leadership in support of maintaining and enhancing the PeopleSoft student information system and related enterprise software for the University of Nebraska System (NU) and the Nebraska State College System ( NSCS).
The AVP for NeSIS is a member of the VP of IT and CIO senior leadership team and works together with ITS and campus NeSIS teams to set the vision and strategic priorities for scalable student information services at NU and NSCS. This position is a multicampus leader that collaborates with campus teams on all operational and strategic aspects of NeSIS, providing a customer first, next generation student information system experience for NU/NSCS faculty, staff, and students by leveraging strong collaboration and communication with campus leadership teams. The AVP leads, in coordination with the VP of IT and CIO, NeSIS governance team interactions to include the Executive Advisory Committee led by the NU Executive Vice President and Provost and NeSIS Integration Team representing campus leadership. The AVP provides leadership and IT guidance for business processes mapped to PeopleSoft modules, and services for the student information enterprise business system; holds the responsibility for collaborating across technical and functional areas to optimize security, development, data integration, functionality, testing and enhancements. Additionally, the AVP will provide direction and support for IT solutions that align with and enhance mission-critical business operations while maintaining the core expectations of security requirements. This position will strategically cultivate and grow a high performing NeSIS team by understanding employee's skills and abilities, establishing expectations, coaching and appropriately allocate professional development resources and manage outcomes. The successful candidate will conduct periodic site visits to campuses to foster NeSIS relationships with campus leaders, ensuring NeSIS services align to support campus strategic priorities.

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree that provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities, and 7 years of experience managing large and operationally diverse enterprise IT teams and/or related functional student information services enterprise resource planning (ERP) teams. Demonstrated leadership experience with strong relationship-building and communication qualities throughout career.
Preferred qualifications include a master's degree. Demonstrated business acumen and higher education IT and/or PeopleSoft Campus Solutions leadership experience.
The ideal candidate for the AVP for NeSIS position will have a collaborative approach to leadership, ensure the NeSIS division integrates closely with all divisions within NU ITS and NU/NSCS campuses; have a deep understanding of the role and mission of a public university including its values of access, opportunity, and inclusion for all, and will bring an entrepreneur's approach to positioning the University of Nebraska as a leader through a period of change in higher education. The AVP will be a gifted leader, communicator, and collaborator who can work across a diverse system of campuses, each with a distinct and complementary mission. They will regularly interact with senior leaders and be expected to build strong collaborative relationships with all levels of staff across NU and NSCS.
