The Opyrchal lab is looking for a scientist for a position of Assistant
Scientist in Medicine in a research track (non-tenure).
The applicant will supervise, advise on and participate in projects focused on
investigating novel approaches for the treatment of solid cancers with
emphasis on breast cancer. The successful candidate will play an integral role
in future direction of the projects, manuscript and grant writing.
Our laboratory employs a wide array of techniques to study signaling pathways
responsible for propagation, resistance and metastasis of breast cancer.
Therefore, the applicant will perform various tasks including engineering
targeting constructs, gene knockdown, genotyping by PCR and Southern blot
analysis, studying gene expression and protein synthesis by qRT-PCR, western
blot and flow cytometry. Furthermore, the successful candidate will utilize
immunoprecipitation, protein purification, ELISA and fluorescence microscopy
as well as electrophysiology and live imaging to study the biology of breast

Doctorate or terminal degree required. Qualified candidates will possess an
MD, PhD, or equivalent in Biological or Medical sciences and 1 or more years
of post-doctoral experience. Publication record. Must have experience in
culture of human cells, transfections, and basic molecular biology techniques
(mRNA and DNA isolation, RT-PCR, molecular cloning). Experience in mouse
models is highly desirable.
