At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a position as Assistant Researcher in Addiction Medicine with focus animal experimental studies, at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

In the preclinical part of the research group Addiction Biology Unit, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, research on mechanisms underlying addictive disorders are pursued. An important goal for the research group is to identify new treatment targets for addictive disorders that can be transferred into the clinic in a rapid manner.

Job assignments

The employment is linked to a project aiming to understanding neuronal circuits in the brain reward system that is activated by drugs of abuse. The work involved performing behavioral studies in research animals and to develop new behavioral methodology, neurochemical models could also be part of the project. Assignments also include administrative work linked to the projects, such as preparing data reports and communicating data.

Qualifications

The applicant should have an education in an area relevant for the position, such as laboratory technician or a pharmacy degree. Research merits in the area of addiction or brain disorders are preferable. Experience with animal research is especially considered a merit, so is a good ability to handle data sets and make data reports. Emphasis will also be placed on personal fitness.

Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 12 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
