Applications are solicited for an individual to be appointed as a part-time Assistant Research Scientist under the supervision of Tamar Schlick. The position focuses on research in mathematical biology and molecular modeling focusing on structural studies of the the RNA viral genome of Covid-19 and related drug discovery studies. The researcher will be part of a group addressing urgent challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic in a project supported by the Division of Mathematical Biology of the National Science Foundation. Part of this research relies on the Schlick group's work on modeling RNA structures using graph theory. For the group's research background, see https:// monod.biomath.nyu.edu/. The Schlick Covid-19 research team will be collaborating with other Covid-19 research teams around the world.

Qualifications

Successful applicants will be highly motivated with an interest in working in chemistry, biophysics, biomedical engineering, or related fields and must hold at least a Master's degree in a related field. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in simulation algorithms and experience in advanced scientific computing are highly desired, as is a solid background in chemistry or biophysics.

The terms of employment which would be a year, with a possibility of renewal, include a competitive salary and other benefits. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.
