About the Role

Boston University's Office of the University Registrar (OUR) seeks an Assistant Registrar in the Office of the University Registrar (OUR)The Assistant Registrar of Operations and Compliance is a member of the OUR management team This position supports the mission Boston University and Enrollment and Student Administration by updating best practices and creates systems, reports and processes that support a sophisticated data-driven environment with a focus on the security and integrity of information. This position is responsible to manage Boston Consortium registration, liaising with partner external schools and BU schools and colleges to ensure consistent approaches and processes. This position reports to the Associate Registrar of Operations and Compliance. This is a limited term position until December 2024.

This role works directly with the Associate Registrar and colleagues in the University Registrar's Office and Boston University.

The Assistant Registrar to Registrar Operations and Compliance's primary duties include:

  • Communicating compliance and training requirements to the BU community;
  • Collaborating with Information Services and Technology and Student Health Services staff to resolve students who are non-compliance with BU registration requirements and required training;
  • Resolving errors in enrollment reporting to the National Student Clearinghouse;
  • Providing resolution support for NSC-related issues based on referrals from Enrollment Services Operations (ESO);
  • Serving as an Athletic Compliance officer for NCAA Division I sports and certifying approximately 800 athletes for fall, spring, and post-season competition;
  • Collaborating with OUR Schedules, Global Programs, and online programs to create and maintain term sessions for scheduling;
  • Evaluating and supplementing content on the Chatbot and;
  • Troubleshooting issues with transcript production.

    The Office of the University Registrar is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA). It supports the instructional and student progress endeavors of Boston University by providing quality services to students, faculty, academic and administrative departments, and the public. We supervise registration and the evaluation of transfer credit, maintain student academic records and record grades, issue transcripts, verify enrollment and graduation, issue diplomas, assign classrooms, produce the class schedule, schedule final examinations, and oversee the production of the Bulletin and the Degree Advice system.

    About the Candidate

    A Bachelor's degree and at least 5-8 years of professional work experience in higher education or in positions with similar work functions/duties are required for this position. We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Displays strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Has interpersonal skills and experience in customer service;
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Has experience in project and process coordination and facilitation and/or management and;
  • Has lead and/or supervisory experience and the ability to prioritize the tasks assigned.
  • Website maintenance skills are a plus. Direct experience with Hyland OnBase, Parchment, WordPress, and Excel reporting, NCAA athletic certification, registration compliance systems, state authorization, academic term sessions and National Student Clearinghouse reports is highly desirable.
