Position Overview

Create and deliver remarkable content for both on-air and online that enhances the ministry of 98.5 KTIS, while assisting the Program Director in providing and shaping the on-air programming and content of 98.5 KTIS to promote the mission and vision of Northwestern Media.

What will I do in this position?

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the midday host for KTIS, weekdays from 10AM- 2PM, preparing and delivering exceptional show content for use on air and digital platforms that encourages the listener to grow in their faith.
  • Host one weekend tracked air shift weekly.
  • Assist the Program Director in the strategic execution of the sound of 98.5 KTIS to fulfill the mission of Northwestern Media.
  • Facilitate and support part-time air talent to new levels of effectiveness through authenticity and relevant storytelling.
  • Under the direction of the Program Director, assist in the scheduling and selection of music for airplay on 98.5 KTIS, report weekly spins to industry trades and conduct weekly music research to refine station playlist as necessary.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, discuss new music with record label representatives and promoters, and represent 98.5 KTIS at industry events and junkets.
  • Under the direction of the Program Director and in conjunction with the Audience Engagement Department, assist in the creation and execution of Audience Engagement initiatives as assigned.
  • Prepare, develop, and maintain weekly air talent on-air schedule, including managing holidays and vacation times.
  • Be available to fill in on multiple day-parts as needed. Voice track weekend on-air shift. Work with voice trackers and handle communication regarding station initiatives, promos, and liners. Troubleshoot voice- tracking issues. Maintain online liner doc with weekly updates.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of successful on-air fundraisers as assigned.
  • Assist and serve with the 98.5 KTIS team at concerts and events as assigned.

  • Secondary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with or host podcasts as assigned.
  • Assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President for Media
  • What will it take to succeed in this position?

    Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of five years broadcasting or related experience required
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern's mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to interact with staff, listeners and donors in a professional, kind, and tactful manner
  • Excellent on-air presence and speaking skills with ability to effectively communicate spiritual truths
  • Ability to plan and execute an entertaining live program, incorporating production elements and promos
  • Ability to respond to time-sensitive situations skillfully and professionally
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision
  • Ability to take initiative and work in an organized fashion, completing projects accurately and within predetermined deadlines
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
