Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Strong interest in and prior exposure to conducting research beyond graduate thesis/dissertation. 2. Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy practice. 3. Experience of 3 or more years in the area in which courses will be taught. 4. Knowledge of content in the area of assigned instruction. 5. Ability to organize and present material in lecture and laboratory. 6. Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups as well as one-on-one. 7. Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.
Required Qualifications
1. Education: An entry-level doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program. 2. Experience: Three years experience teaching in content area. 3. Licensure: As required. California State PT license or eligible for State licensure. 4. Preferences: Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of physical therapy practice and an established research agenda and interest in administration.

Teaching Teaching in the classroom and/or laboratory. Provide the highest quality of teaching with the most current content information possible. . Provide the highest quality of clinical supervision. Maintain and promote high standards of intellectual integrity. Provide a syllabus at the beginning of each course to guide the student in planning. Maintain records of student grades and progress. Prepare examinations that assess the student's accomplishment of lecture and laboratory objectives.

Communication Be open to interaction with students in class and available through office hours at least two (2) hours per week when students are not scheduled to be in class. Be willing to schedule further time as needed by the student. Be a mentor to the students. Exhibit teamwork and cooperation within the department and other departments within the University. Interact appropriately within the department and University with all levels of administration and support staff, from President to Security Guard. Be timely and accurate in all communications.

Scholarship and Research Participate in grant proposals, scholarly publications or oral/poster presentations. Conduct research individually or in collaboration with University faculty and/or community clinicians. Maintain current knowledge in the profession by conference and seminar attendance, as well as by research and teaching.

May guest lecture for other programs in the University. May be required to attend university functions outside normal working hours. Assist other faculty with practical examinations. Provide tutorial classes for students who require remediation.
