Responsibilities include teaching and advising primarily at the graduate level, conducting ongoing research, and participating in department, college, university, and community service activities. Priority for the current vacancy is teaching in the school counseling graduate program and preferably in the clinical mental health counseling program, as well.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Counselor Education or closely related field anticipated by the start date.
  • Anticipated graduation from CACREP institution.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in graduate level teaching is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and identities.
  • Employment experience as a school counselor (internships may be considered).
  • Willingness to work as part of collaborative team within the University and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience in teaching core school counseling courses.
  • Experience working with graduate students in instruction, advising, mentoring and research related activities.
  • Commitment to the professional field of school counseling and counselor education as evidenced by education, teaching, school experience, research, community service and professional affiliations, such as ASCA, ACES, and ACA.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting program-related research, grant writing, and scholarship.
  • Essential Functions and percent of time:

    Teaching courses and advising students in the school counseling program for a normal annual workload during Fall and Spring terms. Teaching opportunities may be available in the summer at the pay described in the current CBA. (40%)

    Contributing to scholarship in the field of school counseling and other programs according to the candidate's interests. Collaborating with other CHEH faculty and encouraging student research. (40%)

    Participating in department, college, university, and community service. (20%)

    Standard office environment that may require remote work on a continual basis.
