    Research and didactic position of Assistant Professor located at the Laboratory of Human Molecular Genetics, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology.

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Eligibility criteria: (one can get total 0-40 points)
  • scientific achievements documented by publications and their compiliance with the research area competition requirments (0-20 pts);
  • research projects managing (0-5 pts);
  • participation in postdoctoral internships (0-5 pts);
  • participation in research projects; participation in trainings and workshops; participation in conferences and scientific seminars (0-5 pts);
  • experience in teaching at the academic level; compliance of the candidate's teaching skills with the didactic activity of the Faculty of Biology; readines to conduct classes in Polish and English (0-5 pts).
  • Selection process
  • The selection proces:

  • competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents;

  • formal evaluation of submitted proposals;
  • call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary;
  • selection of candidates for the interview stage;
  • interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements;
  • the committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates' work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation;
  • the chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates; this information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses; submitted documents will be sent back to candidates ( not applicable for documents sent by e-mail).

    Skills/Qualifications

    The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478, i.e. Article 113) and who meet the following requirements:

  • PhD degree in biological or medical sciences; 2.laboratory experience with following techniques: PCR, RT, Real-Time PCR, Western-blot, Northern-blot, cloning; 3. experience with confocal and fluorescent microscopy; 4. experience with cell culture (cell-lines, primary cells); 5. experience with animal models and/or patient material; 6. skills and experience with NGS data analysis (RNAseq, small RNAseq, single cell RNAseq); 7. familiarity with operational Unix-like systems; 8. familiarity with bioinformatics tools for NGS data processing (quality check, alignment) and for analysis of alternative RNA isoforms (splicing, alternative transcription start sites); 9. familiarity with databases such as: UCSC, Ensembl, miRBase, GEO, SRA; 10. ability to perform statistical and differential gene expression analysis in R; 11. basic programming skills: R/Bioconductor, Python/Biopython; 12. ability to visualize biological data; 13. experience in writing and leading of scientific projects; 14. experience in presenting at international and national conferences; 15. didactic experience in conducting classes at university level; 16. independent work experience; 17. fluent in Polish and English - both spoken and written.

  • diplomas or certificates issued by colleges and universities attesting to education and degrees or titles held (in case of academic degrees obtained abroad - the documents must meet the equivalence criteria set out in Article 328 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478 i.e. as amended; Polish: Dziennik Ustaw 2021 poz. 478);
  • information on the Applicant's research, teaching and organizational achievements, including lists of:

  • publications,

  • research projects participation,
  • trainings and workshops participation
  • conferences and seminars participation

  • consent to the processing of personal data as follows : In accordance with Article 6 (1) (a) of the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016. (OJ EU L 119/1 of 4 May 2016) I consent to the processing of personal data other than: first name, (first names) and surname; parents' first names; date of birth; place of residence (mailing address); education; previous employment history, included in my job offer for the purpose of the current recruitment".
