£36914 to £49553 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in the School of Biosciences. We are seeking to appoint an academic that will join a team of researchers within the recently created Centre for Large Animal Biotechnology (CeLAB) to develop a successful research program in one or more of the following the areas that we are currently expanding including: 1) regenerative medicine, 2) animal based-lab grown foods, 3) livestock genetic selection and 4) animal health.

CeLAB is embedded within the activities of the Future Food Beacon, a £20M flagship program bringing together the power of genome-enabled plant and animal sciences with cutting-edge nutrition science, delivering sustainable food and nutritional security. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of researchers and establish links with industry to develop a research program across fundamental and applied research aiming at solving current world problems such as healthy ageing, food security, sustainable livestock production.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for external funding to enable development of new and independent research. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels within the School, including the delivery of core undergraduate modules in the area of Biotechnology. A range of administrative duties to support the operation of the School will also be undertaken.

The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area with a track record of high-quality research publications of international quality. Evidence of securing external funding is desirable.
