Description of Work

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Technology at Elizabeth City State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or a Lecturer in Mathematics. The primary purpose of the position is to teach undergraduate courses in Mathematics in both face-to-face and on-line environments. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students and providing service to the department and university. Tenure-track faculty responsibilities also include relevant research, publishing, or scholarly activities.

Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position

Possess a doctorate in Mathematics for the rank of Assistant Professor or a master's degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in Mathematics for the rank of Lecturer. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited university. ABDs considered if degree obtained prior to start of employment.

Possess effective communication skills.

Demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and diverse work environments when interacting with others within the university community.

Possess a commitment to excellence in student learning and be able to promote students' ability to succeed in a multicultural global community.

Possess the ability to use technology in teaching and learning and be knowledgeable of gathering and utilizing electronic data for student growth and program improvement.

Possess ability to write grants and/or conduct and publish research (tenure- track only).

Minimum Training and Experience

A Doctorate degree is required for the rank of Assistant Professor. May hire at the rank of Lecturer with a master's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in relevant field.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Management Preferences

A doctorate degree in Mathematics is preferred.
