The English Department at Western Carolina University is seeking candidates
for a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Anticipated begin work date is January 2022. Review of applications will begin
immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.
Position is primarily located on the main WCU Cullowhee, NC campus.
At a minimum, applicants must have a PhD with an emphasis in Teaching English
to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) from an accredited institution by the
beginning of the contract date. Candidates should have an established record
of excellence in teaching and be prepared to offer courses in the department's
undergraduate TESOL minor, online graduate certificate, and online MAT
programs. They should also have a strong interest in developing courses that
are part of the English department's forthcoming undergraduate BA curriculum
revision, and the ability to teach existing courses in grammar and

teaching skills, including but not limited to TESOL methods, P-12 education,
multiple modalities, translanguaging, and educational linguistics. The
successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to responding to
needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students and to issues of
social justice, equity and diversity in education. Teaching load is 3/3.
