About The Position:
The School of Education, Health and Human Services prepares students for successful entry into their profession. We focus on an ethical approach to human well-being and encourage critical thinking and practical application. The Social Work Program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and our department works to prepare competent and effective generalist social work professional practitioners, whose knowledge base includes the profession's history, purposes, and philosophy, and whose values include service, social justice, dignity and worth of each human being, self- determination, integrity, importance of human relationships, competence, human rights, and scientific inquiry. Currently, we offer our BSW program on campus as well as through a distance learning format, and are also in the process of developing an online MSW program. Therefore, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both on-campus and in a distance learning format. The duties of this tenure-track position will include: teaching Social Work courses across the BSW and MSW curriculum; service to the department and University, which will include student advisement and other service such as committee work; and conducting academic research. The College's 256-acre campus sits on the edge of the city's downtown area. Plattsburgh is home to a variety of arts and cultural venues, including the nearly 100-year-old Strand Theatre. Our active waterfront location features a small town feel combined with the advantages and opportunities of a larger urban center. The Plattsburgh area offers excellent schools, a vast health network and elder care services, along with wide retail offerings. It is an emerging home to microbreweries, wineries, community supported agriculture and more. The campus is within easy traveling distance to Montreal, Quebec; Lake Placid, N.Y.; and Burlington, V.T.
