About The Position:

The School of Education, Health and Human Services prepares students for successful entry into their profession. We focus on an ethical approach to human well-being and encourage critical thinking and practical application. The Social Work Program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and our department works to prepare competent and effective generalist social work professional practitioners, whose knowledge base includes the profession's history, purposes, and philosophy, and whose values include service, social justice, dignity and worth of each human being, self- determination, integrity, importance of human relationships, competence, human rights, and scientific inquiry. Currently, we offer our BSW program on campus as well as through a distance learning format, and are also in the process of developing an online MSW program. Therefore, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both on-campus and in a distance learning format. The duties of this tenure-track position will include: teaching Social Work courses across the BSW and MSW curriculum; service to the department and University, which will include student advisement and other service such as committee work; and conducting academic research. Required Qualifications:

  • MSW from CSWE accredited program
  • Two (2) years' minimum of professional social work practice
  • Ability to teach core BSW and MSW courses across the curriculum
  • Evidence of effective teaching experience
  • Record of an active research agenda and scholarship
  • Proven ability to interact with the community
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of anti-oppressive practice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience in advising or mentoring
  • Ability to effectively teach in a distance learning format
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff and administrators
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • Experience as a BSW program instructor
  • Possession of a clinical social work license or license eligible in the state of New York
  • Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Experience with online training or teaching
  • Prior supervision of student interns in field placements
  • Knowledge of the CSWE accreditation process
  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor licensure and/or experience in Substance Use Disorder practice
  • Grant writing experience
