Position Description

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions

The College of the Pacific, the arts and sciences College housed within the University, is hiring across multiple fields this year ( Careers webpage) and seeks to bring in a cohort of new faculty to build upon and elevate our existing interdisciplinary focus areas: Health and wellness; Environment and sustainability; Law and policy. The successful candidate in Psychology will collaborate with colleagues to further develop student- centered programs in one or more of those interdisciplinary areas.

The successful candidate will teach courses within general education, including developmental psychology and the College's first-year seminar program, research methods, and upper-division lab courses within their area of expertise. Our faculty are dedicated teachers, mentors and advisors who value collaboration and who develop innovative pedagogies to enhance student learning in addition to engaging actively in scholarship and service. We are excited to welcome new colleagues who are eager to be part of our vibrant academic community and to contribute to the College's growth and development.

Faculty in the Psychology department teach a 2-2 course load and are expected to actively engage undergraduate students in their research, maintain a strong research program, and participate in the department and university community through service. Qualified candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, experience teaching a diverse population, and be able to integrate diversity into the curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Psychology or related field. May consider an applicant who will complete their PhD by the time of hire.

  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work schedule is dependent on department need.

    Hiring Range $72,000-$74,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Special Instructions
