Doane University, a highly regarded liberal arts university in Nebraska, seeks to fill an open position of assistant professor of education (tenure-track), OR assistant professor of practice (non-tenure track) with an emphasis in special education. Responsibilities include helping develop pre-service teachers at the undergraduate level and initial certification at the advanced level for teaching positions in elementary and secondary special education. Programs lead to a certification in K-12 special education. Doane faculty enjoy teaching courses with an average 12:1 student/teacher ratio and develop programs that build connections with students.

  • A doctorate in education or related field is required for a tenure track position, ABD considered.
  • Candidates should have at least 3 years of K-12 teaching experience in special education and have or be able to obtain a Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
  • Undergraduate teaching experience preferred.
  • Candidates with experience working with diverse populations, technology, urban education, and adult learners are preferred.
  • Doane University includes campuses in Crete and Lincoln, Nebraska, and a location in Omaha, Nebraska. This position will be part of the College of Education on the scenic Crete, Nebraska campus, as well as the teaching of courses and advising students on the Lincoln campus. Opportunities for teaching at the graduate level in Doane's MEd and EdD programs are also possible.
