Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Division of Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Department of Allied
Health Sciences, UNC School of Medicine, invites applications for two faculty
positions. The Division of CLS offers a baccalaureate and a Master's degree in
CLS. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate students in
on-line courses, on-campus courses, coordination of clinical education
courses, and graduate student advising. One faculty position will include
teaching primarily in the microbiology and immunology areas of the curriculum.
The other position will include a teaching focus primarily in molecular
diagnostics. The faculty member will also be expected to participate in the
service and research missions of the Division of CLS. The appointment track
will be dependent on education and qualifications.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A Master's Degree (Ph.D. preferred)
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Previous work experience in a clinical laboratory are required.
- Higher education didactic teaching experience in the clinical laboratory
field, expertise in microbiology and/or molecular diagnostics and evidence of
scholarly excellence or potential are highly desirable.
- The candidate must have generalist certification MT or MLS or molecular
biology certification MB.
