    General Description / Primary Purpose

    The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work at the University of North Florida is now accepting applications for a full-time nine-month, tenure-track faculty member in Social Work at the level of Assistant Professor. This campus-based position will serve the Department's BSW and MSW programs. We seek applicants whose scholarship is driven by critical and social justice perspectives. This appointment will begin in August 2022.

    The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester in areas including research methods, multicultural social work practice, child welfare practice, advanced generalist practice, and advanced practice electives. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda including publication in peer- reviewed outlets and securing external research funding, and to make meaningful service contributions to the Department, University, and discipline.

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda including publication in peer- reviewed outlets and securing external research funding, and to make meaningful service contributions to the Department, University, and discipline. Areas of research and teaching expertise are open. All candidates must have an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, as well as an earned doctorate in Social Work by August 1, 2022. Two or more years of post-MSW practice experience are preferred.

    The mission of the social work program at UNF is to prepare students with the generalist knowledge, values, and skills to provide effective social work services to diverse client systems in a variety of practice settings. Our curriculum is designed to enhance students' understanding of and sensitivity to economic and social inequalities and foster commitment to serving and advocating for the well-being of those who are vulnerable, marginalized, and oppressed. The faculty in the social work program and the department have many interdisciplinary interests, and a common theme of those interests is community- based learning. The position is in a joint department of 25 faculty with undergraduate programs in social work, sociology, and anthropology. The department also houses the Center for Community Initiatives, an Applied Sociology research center, and the Africana Studies Program. It is expected that applicants demonstrate clear evidence of potential for impact in research, teaching, and community engagement. Further, applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the UNF Social Work Program's vision and articulate how their research, teaching, and community engagement contributes to this vision. The UNF Social Work Program is committed to diversity and cultivating an atmosphere of inclusion in all areas and strongly encourages candidates from historically excluded groups to apply.
