    The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) in the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington is seeking an outstanding Assistant Professor of Research in CE-Construction Engineering and Management, non- tenure track status. This position will be in the College of Engineering with appointment in the CE Department. The CE Department currently has several endowed professorships that are available. This position focuses on Construction Engineering and Management research areas including but not limited to Data Analytics in Construction, Autonomous and Electric Vehicles Adoption, and Construction Workforce Health and Safety.

    Department and College/School Information

    The College of Engineering is home to seven departments: Bioengineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering; and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. With more than 7,000 students, the College is the third-largest in Texas and offers the most comprehensive engineering degree programs in the region. It offers 10 baccalaureate, 14 master's, and 9 doctoral degree programs and has ties to numerous Fortune 500 companies in the region. The College is enjoying extraordinary growth in graduate and undergraduate student enrollment and in student graduation. This growth has been concomitant with growth in research expenditures, collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship by faculty and students. The Civil Engineering Department has enjoyed significant growth in recent years and enjoys a robust research enterprise in the areas of construction engineering and management; environmental engineering; geotechnical engineering; infrastructure system engineering and management; structural engineering and mechanics; transportation engineering; and water resources engineering, with per-faculty research expenditures totaling more than $320,000. In addition, the department works with many top civil engineering firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as the Texas Department of Transportation, NOAA and other government agencies.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Candidates must have the skills to develop proposals (ability to develop them independently and in collaboration) for federal and state agencies, report to granting sponsors, manage research projects financially, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

    Required Qualifications

    An earned Ph.D. degree (with significant number of high-quality peer-reviewed publications) or all but dissertation (ABD) in civil engineering is required. Candidates for Assistant Professor of Research position must have demonstrated a commitment to quality and scholarly research with excellent record of research publications and proven interdisciplinary research experience with several state/federal funded projects. Candidates for Assistant Professor of Research position must have also demonstrated leadership skills. Candidates must have knowledge on various statistical modeling techniques including but not limited to time series analysis, structural equation modeling, and fuzzy modeling. They must have research experience with electric and autonomous vehicles adoption (partial/full automation).
