Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at Augsburg University invites candidates to apply for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position with expertise in Industrial-Organizational Psychology to begin in August 2022.

The Psychology Department (a total of 8 full-time faculty) offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology in collaboration with the Biology Department. The Psychology Department faculty is committed to excellence in student mentoring, student-faculty collaborative research, internship training, and service learning opportunities. The Psychology Department has access to modern teaching and research facilities, located in the new Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion.

The successful candidate will contribute to a richly diverse community of learners through excellence in teaching, conducting collaborative research with students, mentoring students in first-year experience courses, and by fully engaging with their Department, the University, their profession, as well as the wider community. Teaching responsibilities include courses in industrial/organizational psychology; research methods/statistics; and introduction to psychology. Other courses will depend on the needs of the department and the candidate's area of expertise. The annual teaching commitment is typically six courses per year, and could include evening courses.

Position Requirements:

A Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field, from an accredited program is required. ABD candidates will be considered if doctorate will be completed by July 2022. Strong candidates will have demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in psychology, commitment to student-centered teaching practices, and experience engaging/mentoring students in research. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. during the 2022-2023 academic year.
