Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine- month appointment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a core member of the Mental Health Counseling program.

Teach courses in line with program and department needs – e.g., graduate and undergraduate courses in mental health counseling, abnormal psychology, multicultural psychology, and practicum/internship.

Conduct an active program of research and scholarship with a clearly articulated agenda within the field of counseling.

Mentor students through academic advising and research.

Serve the department, university, and community in ways that promote professional counseling.

Required Education and/or Experience

The formal education of a doctorate in counselor education and supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Training as a “generalist” is preferred, and we are open to all qualified applicants; however, it would be helpful to have an interest in multicultural counseling/working with diverse clients, child and adolescent behavioral health, trauma, or strength-based approaches. We are eager to support applicants who bring diversity to the department and university.

Licensed or licensed-eligibility as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Arkansas
