The Center for Rural Health and Nursing is looking for an assistant professor of practice – rural simulation consultant to develop a simulation program with a focus on rural health. The candidate will be developing and planning deployment of a simulation-based education (SBE) program, concentrating on the rural population in Texas. The position will entail development of scenarios utilizing multiple simulation modalities. Qualifications include a working knowledge of human patient simulators, Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), and adherence to the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice when developing the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Collaboration with the Lead Faculty from nursing courses to assess rural healthcare course simulation needs

· Collaboration with the Smart Hospital educators when developing SBE activities

· Development of manikin-based scenarios with a rural health focus, adhering to the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP)

· Development of Simulated Patient (SP) scenarios with a rural health for Simulated Patients (SP), adhering to the HSSOBP

· Testing developed scenarios at the Smart Hospital prior to launch

· Collaboration with the Smart Hospital staff to develop a plan to deliver the rural health simulation program

· Research interests

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in a healthcare related field

Three years of healthcare simulation experience

Excellent verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Current CHSE certification

Ability to collaborate virtually if necessary

Knowledge and adherence to the HSSOBP

Preferred Qualifications

Programming knowledge of the Laerdal family of manikins
